A True Nightmare

Last night I had a dreaming first: a creative block. I'm used to having them in real life. They are simply expected. But to dream of being creative, then of having a block and being unable to create -- in a dream -- is truly horrific.

First I was hanging out with friends at sunset. We were camping near a mountain range. I looked up at the setting sun and saw a brilliant display. Dramatic clouds, amazing colors, all breaking against these magnificent mountains. Not thinking, I grabbed my equipment and started to run to the perfect spot to capture this scene. As soon as I setup however, a band of little children came to see what I was up to. I've never been completely comfortable being creative whilist people are observing me, and I let it get to me here. So I asked them to leave and I moved up a little closer to the scene.

When I got closer I discovered a magnificent house. Part of it was very modern, with exceptionally straight lines. Lots of glass and metal formed the left side of the house, but leading to the front entrance, the right side of the house was made from wood and had a big sweeping curve right into the front door. It was an amazing structure, and it just so happened that it was for sale and the agent wanted me to take architectural shots to help sell it (never mind how I met or knew the agent, I have no idea). I started setting up for a great shot of the front of the house... and was blocked. I had no idea how to capture it. I went inside. Same story. I walked around the house to find great angles to work with. They were there, but I didn't know how to capture them!

I was a true nightmare. I can't get it out of my head this morning.
